Frequently asked questions

What size fender is suggested for the holsters?

We have two different size Fender Holster’s, one for an  8” and one for a 10” diameter fender. Custom size Fender Holsters are available. Please inquiry about pricing.

What is the largest size fender it will hold in either design you carry? Will they hold up to a 12x34 Taylor made Big B fender?

The Fender Holster would need to be custom made to accommodate that size. The Fender Suspender has a 72 strap, so would work for the Big B Fender. Longer straps for the Fender Suspender are available upon request.

How do I attach the 3 bar slider?

How long is the strap on the Fender Suspender?

The strap for the Fender Suspender is 72 inches long.  Plenty of strap to adjust the fender.

Is the boat blanket (soft side/outer side of the Fender Holster) removable and washable? Is it easily replaceable?

The fabric isn’t removable. But the material is mildew and stain resistant with UV protection. If it gets dirty, just rinse with a hose.

Does the product come with mounting fasteners / screws?

All hardware is included.

What is the outer facing material of the Fender Holster that makes contact with the boat hull?

The Fender Holster is designed with a soft exterior that is gentle on painted hulls.  It’s an extremely durable and plush polyester material.  Along with mold and mildew resistance, it is UV, and chemical resistant.

What is the lead time for delivery from receipt of order?

2 weeks.

What diameter fender will these accommodate? Mine are 12x30

The Fender Suspender can accommodate most fender sizes, including 12”x30”. Fenders larger than 10” and smaller than 8” would be custom designed.

I have Polyform G-6 11x30”  Will these work with the holsters you sell or do I need some made to handle this slightly larger diameter?

Fenders with a slightly larger diameter than the standard 2 Fender Holster sizes offered will work! However, a small part of the fender will be exposed. This does not affect the functionality. It’s more of an aesthetic issue.

How many fenders do you recommend for a boat that docks stern in?

The recommended distance is every 8 - 10 feet with 2 fenders on the stern.

What size boat will an 8” fender and a 10" fender work best with?

Its owners choice, but the rule of thumb is an 8" fender will work for 25-35' boats and a 10" fender will work for 30-40' boat.

What would keep it from flipping up on the dock? (thinking boat wakes and max currents)

Prior to the launch of these products, we performed extended testing for a long period of time in all weather conditions. We have been using our (same) Fender Holsters for years in an unprotected marina that is exposed to the elements. The way the Fender Holster is designed and how it is fastened to the dock prevents it from getting swallowed by the boat; instead, the boat rubs up against the Fender Holster. When using a rope to secure your fenders, it's difficult to get the perfect install (position) which causes the fender to get swallowed up by the boat and therefore creates an elasticity effect. If the Fender Holster is installed correctly and the straps are set to hold the fender in the correct position, you should be fine.

Can this be used with a fender with an eye on each end? Or is it better to use with a center pass through.

Fender Holster works great with both style fenders.
